The Colour Group Great Britain Northern Chapter

13:20

This is going to be a slightly different blog post today, because I want to present to you a charity that I am have only recently become heavily involved with, but whose future in the North of England seems bright (and I'm not just saying that because I'm on the committee, I promise).

I want this blog to be increasingly relevant to real-time events and movements that will (by virtue of where I am based) mostly revolve around the North East of England and the creative sector we are host to.

The North East is a great place to live and I have commended the place and it's people many times, but often there is a slight lack of things to do. A strong night-time economy doesn't necessarily make for compelling cultural and academic events, and the ones that do take place are often not particularly well advertised.

The Colour Group of Great Britain Northern Chapter aims to change that. We will be organising events, workshops, lectures and exhibitions promoting colour education through fine art and scientific study across the region and spanning various institutions over the coming months, starting in the North East but eventually expanding out to cover the entire Northern half of the UK.

The aim of the Colour Group Great Britain (of which we are a subsidiary branch covering the North East region) is to engage the public and enthusiasts with colour research and developments in the realms of both science and the arts, and to do so in a way that is engaging, accessible and interdisciplinary. Membership costs a mere £20 per annum (you would spend that in Pizza Express, and I know you would) and entitles you to attend all the events we put on for free. Click here to join up.

Our first event is an art exhibition at The Newbridge Project entitled 'Colour Matters', featuring work from a number of local artists, that will include a private view for members and artists talks. I've included the poster below for those of you reading in the region who may want to attend!

Please spread the message of this exciting new group throughout your friends based in the North, and if you are a business or individual who wants to get involved just email me on the address you can find in the 'about me' section and I would be happy to talk to you about potential collaboration opportunities going forward.
