So as I recently accepted my place at Newcastle University I needed to sort my accommodation situation for the following academic year - easier said than done when I live about 6 hours away! Luckily, Aled was (once again!) to the rescue with his Grandad Car (don't tell him I called it that) to drive me up and accompany me to some viewings.
It made for a pretty scenic trip as we stopped over in Durham for a walk and for dinner, and stayed overnight at some family friend's in Shadforth, about 23 miles out of Newcastle and a short drive outside of Durham.
I had to stay entertained somehow on the trip up (3 hours even from Birmingham, and that's not counting traffic!) we mainly went on rrrather.com and played that to pass the time. This funky car (below) was driven by a couple of Hipsters and was probably the most interesting thing we saw on the drive. Oh except we saw the owner of Newcastle Football club near my new flat, which was pretty cool even though he just looked like Phil Mitchell in a Bentley.
The basic aesthetic of the view on the drive up was 'flat, with cows.'
Durham was full of historical buildings, but sadly we didn't really have time to look around properly before the sun started to set.
LOOK AT HOW QUAINT IT IS.
